** Bourke organised the escape from Wormwood Scrubs of fellow prisoner,
Blake, then serving 42 years imprisonment for spying for the Soviet
Union. However, after both had got to Moscow, Blake revealed his
true nature and 'repaid Bourke with treachery'. Bourke returned
to Dublin, and could not be extradited.
